Presented by Elder Nancy Maxwell
Saturday, June 10th from 10 am to 12 (in the Sanctuary)
The workshop will distinguish between the duties of the Board, which are based in law, and the role of the Board, which is based in policies and procedures, that in turn empower and support the Ministries of the church. Through this workshop, the Board of Directors and the Ministries learn which areas are within their individual spheres, and which areas overlap, becoming sensitive to maintaining clearer boundaries to create a strong foundation for healthy church functioning.
Nancy’s workshop is is based on the book, Governance and Ministry: Rethinking Board Leadership, by church consultant Rev. Dan Hotchkiss. Rev. Hotchkiss has worked as a consultant to UFMCC and assisted with the design of the new denominational structure implemented in 2010. In his groundbreaking book (now in its second edition), Rev. Hotchkiss distinguishes between the work of the Board and the work of Ministry–and why it is important for individuals to know which of these hats they are wearing when they do the work of the church.
We hope you will join us as we learn together how we may work together more effectively to make Church of the Trinity all that our Lord wants it to be.
Please RSVP so that we will know how many to prepare for. We look forward to seeing you there!
