2017 MCC Women’s Conference

“Honoring the Spirit Within Us”

November 1-5, 2017

Church of the Trinity Sarasota, Florida

 

 

Come Discover YOUR Spiritual Type and meet women from across the country. The Women’s Conference will feature women speakers including Rev. Elder Pat Bumgardner (“Honoring our Spirits doing Social Justice”); Rev. Dr. Joretta Marshall (“The Heart of the Spirit”); Rev. Elder Margarita Sanchez DeLeon ( “What’s my head got to do with my Spirit”); and drummer Ubaka Hill, (“The Mystical Spirit”). A Wednesday evening presentation will allow you to “Discover YOUR Spiritual Type” with Elder Professor Nancy Maxwell & Rev. Donna Twardowski. There will be a drum circle, workshops, Labyrinth walk, creative reflection time and a “Revival” with Rev. Cande Holmes! A Saturday evening concert by Lucie Blue Tremblay ($25.00) is scheduled as well. Lucie and Elder Margarita will join us for Sunday worship (10 am).

The Conference will be held at Church of the Trinity MCC in Sarasota, Florida. We are very proud of our campus. We have a Labyrinth, picnic table areas, and a meditation walk area with benches to rest.

The Conference will feature speakers:

Reverend Elder Margarita Sanchez De Leon, originally from Puerto Rico has been part of MCC since 1996.

Rev. Dr. Joretta Marshall is the Executive Vice President and Dean, Professor of Pastoral Theology, Care and Counseling at Brite Divinity School, Fort Worth Texas.

Rev. Elder Pat Bumgardner is the Senior Pastor of MCC NY and Executive Director of MCC’s Global Justice Institute. She has been an active and vocal proponent for LGBT rights as human rights and traveling, writing and speaking on behalf of MCC and social justice rights for all.

Ubaka Hill is a performer, master teacher and inspirational speaker, composer, song writer and recording artist. She’s been teaching hand drumming for more than 30 years throughout the United States and other countries.

Church of the Trinity is excited to announce that we have booked Lucie Blue to perform at our Women’s Conference this November!

 

Lucie Blue Tremblay has been writing, recording and performing since 1982.  She’s performed in Canada, France, the US, Spain, Australia and New Zealand, at various folk venues and festivals.

 

Her name has been whispered through the cracks in the music business since her first television appearance in 1984.  Since then she has shared the stage with such prominent names as Randy Newman, James Taylor, Jane Siberry, Pete Seeger, Judi Richards, Sarah McLachlan, Cris Williamson and Meg Christian to name a few.
